Dental implants
At Waterloo Dental Practice we offer dental implants to replace missing teeth. Dental implants are the ideal solution to replace missing or failing teeth, offering a fixed solution without affecting the neighbouring teeth.

At Waterloo Dental Practice, we aim to bring the best possible care for our patients both in the team available and the implants used.

Our team
At Waterloo Dental Practice, the placement of dental implants is done by Mr Daya Gahir, a Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with over 20 years of experience in the placement of dental implants.

After this, the following steps of replacing your tooth with a natural crown or bridge is complete by Mr Hoeglund-Abdollahian (Seb), who is currently completing his Master's Degree in Dental Implantology in the University of Salford.

Through this collaboration, we can ensure that all aspects of your implant journey are completely taken care of to every last detail.
Our implants
We exclusively use Astra Tech ™ implants by DentSply Sirona. The evidence base for Astra Tech implants is extensive, with over 1,000 publications in peer-reviewed journals documenting high, long-term survival rates.

Astra Tech implants are a proven, reliable choice that combine smart design and extensive research to provide a beautiful, lasting solution for your missing teeth.

How we replace missing teeth
During our comprehensive assessments with Mr Gahir and Mr Hoeglund-Abdollahian (Seb), we look at the health of you mouth as a whole prior to planning your treatment. Every case is unique, with your goals and preferences at the centre of our treatment plans. Below you can see the process of having a single tooth replaced with a dental implant as an example of the techniques we use.

At your implant consultation we will assess the health of your mouth as a whole, taking into account your concerns and wishes.

If you're happy and your mouth is healthy, following this first assessment with Mr Seb Hoeglund-Abdollahian, Mr Daya Gahir will assess and further plan your implant treatment.
The next stage is placement of the dental implant(s), this is procedure is complete under local anaesthetic to ensure you are comfortable throughout.

Following this, the implant is usually left to heal in place for 3 months. We can arrange a temporary tooth replacement, such as a denture, in the meantime if you wish.
After 3 months of healing, the implant has usually healed and 'integrated' with the bone.

At this point the implant can be uncovered through a minor surgical procedure and following this, we can make your implant crown/bridge.
Following these stages, we advise regular review with our implant team to ensure your implant, your other teeth and your gums are staying healthy.
